In memory of my twin sister
This composition has a special story. I was not born alone into this world, but accompanied by my sister Joana. We were non-identical twins, so  we looked differently, but we were one heart and one soul. I will always remember this feeling of trust and unity.

Elena & Joana

The fall into darkness
Then came the night, where Joana died of a brain hemorrhage, suddenly and completely unexpectedly. Without warning. Without influence from the outside. Without sound. Without pain. Without explanation. Suddenly blood flowed out of her nose and she was dead … No one was able to bring her back to life.

Frozen roseIt took a long time until my parents and I managed to think of Joana without tears. For many years, any kind of separation was very sad for me, every goodbye was very difficult. When I was younger, I even had to cry when a song ended. We always talked and reflected a lot together about death. And every year, on Joana’s day of passing, we scatter flower petals into the water.

Healing sounds
In February 2013, I decided to compose a musical piece for Joana. I worked on this on and off for an entire year, lived through all the feelings again –  the grief and pain up to joy and gratefulness. My parents supported me and said that I can create a music with this, for all people who have lost a loved one.

I would like to communicate to everyone who is sad that love is greater than pain. And that joy will shine in the heart forever. We are not alone with our feelings. There is an invisible power, which will never be lost.

Chateau de Baronville

Magic film recording
This video was filmed at two locations: in the Château de Baronville, close to Paris and in the Normansfield Theatre in London. I play the part of myself and Joana in the video. It was indescribable experience to move between the two worlds!
